Saxophonist and composer Tineke Postma tours internationally as a leader and featured guest. She released six albums as a leader which have been received with great critical acclaim.
Tineke received various awards such as the Jazz Juan Revelations Award” (2009 Antibes Juan-les-Pins Jazz Festival), an Edison National Category (2011) for the Tineke Postma Quartet album “The Dawn of Light” and the prestigious Buma Boy Edgar Award (2015). The Downbeat Polls listed Tineke as Rising Star in the soprano and alto saxophone categories. Tineke plays on two Grammy awarded albums by Terri Lyne Carrington and Dianne Reeves.
Tineke’s latest album called “Sonic Halo” features NYC musicians Matt Mitchell, Linda Oh, Dan Weiss and Greg Osby; the co-leader of this group. The group performed at venues such as North Sea Jazz, Bimhuis, Lantaren Venster, Leuven Jazz Festival and the Jazz Gallery in NYC. Tineke’s next release will be in spring 2019 featuring NYC musicians Kris Davis, Ralph Alessi, Matt Brewer and Dan Weiss.
Tineke worked with prominent artists and groups such as Kenny Barron, Terri Lyne Carrington, Esperanza Spalding, Dianne Reeves, Geri Allen, the Metropole Orchestra and Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw.
Tineke studied at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and Manhatten School of Music (2002) and lived in NYC from 2009-2013. She is part of the saxophone faculty of the Codarts Conservatory Rotterdam and Conservatory of Amsterdam.
