The Sopot Jazz Festival is one of Poland's oldest jazz festivals. The festival's primary ideal is the high quality, authenticity and originality of the music presented. In planning the event, particular emphasis is placed on creating an extensive program, presenting interesting artists from every part of the world to festival audiences – those whose popularity is already established, as well as those, whose entry onto the Sopot festival stage is a gust of new energy, with a positive impact on the contemporary image of jazz music as a dynamically evolving global genre, facilitating communication and mutual awareness between cultures.
The festival's artistic director from 2011 to 2015 was jazz saxophonist Adam Pierończyk.
Starting in 2016, the festival's artistic program will be overseen by curators. American saxophonist, composer, producer and educator GREG OSBY has been chosen as curator of the 2016-2018 edition of the festival.
